Bus Trips

Our members have trod upon the hallowed turf of the SCG, gazed through the historic telescope at the Sydney Observatory, wondered at the splendor of the Egyptian Room, learned about the horrors revealed in the Jewish Museum, seen many beautiful Georgian houses that are integral to the history of Australia and even ridden on old trams. These bus trips take place each month and cost a mere $12 plus any entry fees (with a group booking discount) the trip invariably includes a stop for morning tea and a wonderful lunch with good company.

Craft

The craft group meets twice a week and members produce beautiful items for their homes or for charity. Only two meetings ago the group donated a beautiful quilt to Wollongong Childrens’ Hospital for their raffle. The members have a great time producing these magical items, there is always time for a cup of tea and a chat.

Concert Group

We must not forget the ever popular Dapto Seniors Concert Group which performs three times a year to a packed houses. The group is always looking for new performers, singers and back stage helpers. If you have a yen to perform then why not join? The group rehearses every Monday at 12.30pm; why not pop along and find ourt more about it.

After visiting the centre we all went to Campbelltown Catholic Club for a meal, a drink and a social get together before returning home. A good day out.

The Meeting

The club’s regular meeting on the 28th January saw the first draw of the new raffle prize of $50. The following draws saw prizes of $20 and $10 handed out. Don’t forget it will be the same again at the next meeting. The next lucky member could be you!

On Thursday 4th February members are invited to come on a self catering picnic to Fitzroy Falls. Members will meet at 8.30 am in the car park before they set off. There should be room for those without their own transport. BBQs will be available at the site or you can bring sandwiches. These events have been very enjoyable in the past.

There was some discussion at the meeting about transport with the result that the club will be writing to our local members of the NSW Parliament as well as the Minister for Transport regarding matters to do with the Opal card, the snail pace of Sydney trains and the overcrowding on the South Coast line.

The club will be holding a free Pie and Peas night on the 26th February at 5 pm (to be confirmed) for its members. Put the date in your diary, it should be an enjoyable get together.

The next meeting is on the 11th February - usual place, usual time – see you then.
